An emulation of the classic "rewind and stop" sound performed by djs to add tension before the drop. Made after tens of trials using fl studio's fruity scratcher on a sample i don't remember. Some sounds from an external cd-dvd drive, such as inserting a disc, ejecting it, and some beeps from the drive. Edited in audacity to remove most of the background noise.

Sony dvp-s530d cd/dvd player. A couple of takes of the disc tray being gently pushed closed. The first take includes the sound of the player spinning up a disc. The left channel is a sennheiser mkh-416 and the right channel is an akg c414 b-uls, both into a john hardy m-1 preamp into pro tools. Each mic has a slightly different recording position and overall sound.

Scratched compact disc clicks.

It's a recording of three emtec cd-rs being broken with bare hands. I had 3 audio cd-r that were burned useless. I decided to record their last sounds. You can hear the cds cracking and breaking, me bending them and trying to break them - they were pretty elastic - i had to learn how to crack them. So at first i had some trouble. Around 0:45 you can hear as i'm bending two cds together they squeak and crackle but don't break. The sound is not edited (hence the tag "raw") - no processing was done - i just truncated the beginning and the end leaving you everything you might need. Recorded with a zoom h2 placed on my bed. I was breaking the cds above it. There was a lot of splinters around, you can hear me fiddle with them from around 2:10 on. Originally wav 96khz/24-bit. Truncated and converted to flac with audacity.

I recorded a clay trap firing a disc for a project.

Multiple performances of pressing the eject button on a nintendo gamecube console and closing the lid again. Recorded with senal sci-3212mp microphone into zoom f4 recorder. Trimmed in adobe audition with high pass filter added, no other effects applied.

A bowed ceiling needed to be taken down and this is a recording of the ceiling parts falling from the ceiling of the first floor down the stairs and hitting the wooden boards of the ground floor.

I dropped papers on the ground to simulate fliers being dropped by a winged creature. Sound effect made by ~344forever of project phoenix productions.

I thought i had a diy contact mic somewhere, but i did not find it. But i found another thing. A contact mic for an instrument tuner. But (again) it had a 1/4 inch mono plug. That meant i could not connect it to my computer mic in. But (i know) what if i plug it in to my modular synth. Surprise. . . Then i could add a little filter, pan and spring reverb. So clamped the mic on to my external 3,5 inch disc drive and recorded. This is my submission to dare 51.

Sound i created while working on a post production project of a plane falling. The plain engine sound is mostly a riser and atmos of a construction site. The rattle is a car driving on gravel.

The sound of a sword being withdrawn (with some difficulty) from a sheath, and then accidentally being dropped and hitting the ground. Also sounds like metal scraping metal. This is a sound to emulate cracks on a wall as they happen or rocks falling off a cave or earthquake aftermath. Simply by holding my olympus ws600 against a lamp with beeds and crumbling hard plastic on the other then i uploaded the file to audicity and added the gverb effect to make it sound from a short distance and converted the file to mono as well :).

Just a small sound i made for a project i am doing, i made it by jumping and landing on my hard floor close to the microphone. The effect is used for a person that is falling heavily on the ground. Recorded with my røde nt1-a microphone. The recording is in 44100 hz stereo, 32-bit, waw format.

Inserting, reading, launching a program, and ejecting a dvd-r in a usb disc drive (repackaged "hp dvdram gu90n" laptop drive) with the occasional rumble of a 2tb 7200rpm internal hard drive (in an enclosure) and mouse clicks. Computer fan may be audible in background. Contains seek noises. Recorded on blue yeti in omnidirectional mode and denoised in rx 8 (drive whine re-enhanced though as noise removal made it quieter). Labels added to audio in fl studio edison.

It's just as it says ;) actually i had a hard time finding one like this, so i took a bunch of royalty free public domain small fires and added them all together in sony vegas pro! pretty awesome! you can even hear the ceiling falling in around you! i am using this for my audio drama coral island adventures!.

Recording of a falling branch in the poblenou campus of pompeu fabra university. It was recorded with a zoom h4. It is a dry and softly sound.

I was hungry, so i decided to make a midnight snack. Features clinking dishes, moving drawers, fridge humming & clicking, an "off-camera" microwave, and a few cameos by the house pets. Recorded with a pair of om1s on a very janky homemade jecklin disc into an audiobox 44vsl.

This is a very old, out of tune accordian (the tuning wavers way off key on the main notes as it plays). It might be useful for messing around with to create undertones for a horror or mystery with a rise-fall pattern. I recorded it on an se x1 large condenser mic. Completely free to use for anything. I recorded the fan on quite loud and i opened and closed the cd drive on my hp eletebook 8460p, different laptop models have a different frequency from the fan and different cd drives make a different sound when checking it. Recorded from the internal microphone.
